About your new role
Are you passionate about wildlife management and community engagement? We’re seeking a proactive Invasive Animals Liaison Officer to support a diverse vertebrate pest management program targeting the impacts of feral deer, wild dogs, foxes, feral pigs, rabbits, and feral cats across the City of Gold Coast.
This unique role focuses on coordinating and facilitating cross-tenure, inter-agency approaches to reduce the environmental, cultural, and economic impacts of invasive animals. You will engage with traditional owners, landholders, government agencies, and internal stakeholders to implement effective, best-practice solutions on both public and private land.
Key Responsibilities
Initiate and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders with the objective of gaining cooperation, influencing views and providing technical advice.
Engage and build strong collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders involved in invasive animal management, to provide best practice information and facilitate collaborative, cross tenure approaches to enhance outcomes.
Build the capacity of City staff and other key stakeholders in the best practice management of vertebrate pests through the development and delivery of workshops, field days and training programs.
Collaborating with stakeholders to successfully deliver on-ground activities.
We're looking for people who have:
You are a motivated and collaborative professional with strong communication skills and a practical understanding of vertebrate pest management. You thrive in a team environment, enjoy working in the field, and are confident engaging with diverse stakeholder groups, including traditional owner representatives.
Bachelor degree in Science or an equivalent science qualification is desirable, and experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of best practice invasive animal management, including feral deer, wild dogs, foxes, feral pigs, rabbits, and feral cats.
Drivers Licence C Class unrestricted
