We're seeking a skilled Cloud Data Operations Engineer to join a high-performing team working on a large-scale data platform transformation. You’ll play a key role in managing and supporting modern, cloud-based data infrastructure and pipelines, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, automate, and maintain scalable and secure datasets, pipelines, and data workflows in AWS.
• Operate and optimise cloud-based data environments to support data availability, reliability, and performance.
• Implement and follow core IT service management processes, including incident, change, and problem management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineering, DevOps, and automation to support data ingestion and analytics workflows.
• Manage and configure secure, efficient data access for users working with the enterprise data platform.
• Apply data governance principles, including metadata management, classification, encryption, and access control (IAM policies).
• Monitor, analyse, and report on platform performance, data quality, capacity and usage to support continuous improvement.
• Lead or contribute to non-functional testing of infrastructure, pipelines, and data processes.
• Participate in an on-call roster and out-of-hours change activities as required.

Skills & Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
• 3+ years in cloud operations, data engineering or a similar role, with deep experience across AWS data services.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Glue and/or DBT for building and managing data pipelines.
• Strong scripting and automation experience using Python, SQL, and Bash.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools, ideally Terraform.
• Strong understanding of structured and unstructured data and the ability to extract insights and diagnose issues.
• Knowledge of data quality frameworks and data governance practices.
• Ability to work across multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills.
• Calm and organised approach to managing competing priorities and incidents under pressure.
