A Sydney-based startup is building something few have attempted in Australia: an autonomous humanoid system designed to operate in the real world.

Not in a lab.
Not in simulation.
But on the ground.
Navigating, manipulating, and interacting with unstructured environments.

You’ll be joining a small, mission-led team on a high-impact project, applying foundational AI models to a physical platform capable of understanding and executing complex tasks.

This is not a research role.
This is real-world robotics. Sensors, arms, path planning, hardware integration, and results that need to work.

What you’ll be doing:

• Designing and integrating robotic arms into a mobile humanoid platform
• Developing motion control, path planning, and navigation behaviours using ROS1/2
• Applying SLAM, LiDAR, and sensor fusion to create situational awareness
• Collaborating with AI researchers to bring high-level goals into real-time physical actions
• Testing and refining in simulation (Gazebo, MuJoCo, PyBullet), but always shipping to hardware
• Writing clean, performance-critical C++ and Python code

What we’re looking for:

• Experience working with robot arms in unstructured or dynamic environments
• Deep understanding of robot dynamics, kinematics, and control systems
• Strong hands-on experience with ROS (ROS1 or ROS2)
• Familiarity with perception, navigation, and planning stacks
• Exposure to multiple platforms - cobots, industrial arms, mobile bases, or custom systems
• Bonus points for engineers who’ve built their own full-stack robots
• Around 5–10 years experience ideal, but open to highly capable postgrads with applied experience
