Classification Grade: Legal Officer Grade IV (LOG IV) and Legal Officer Grade V (LOG V)

Salary: LOG IV $144,058 - $146,831 and LOG V $154,403 - $157,430 p.a. base salary (with superannuation and annual leave loading paid in addition to the base salary)

Work type: Full-Time – 35 hours per week, 12 months with a possibility of extension or conversion to ongoing. Part-time applications will also be considered.

Location: Our primary place of work is the CSO Office located at 60-70 Elizabeth Street, Sydney.

We also support flexible working arrangements.

*Please note we will be relocating to a new premises located at Parkline Place, 252 Pitt Street, Sydney in July 2026.

About the Role

We are currently seeking talented individuals for the roles of Senior Solicitor IV and Senior Solicitor V to join our Torts Service & Regulatory Agencies Practice Group within the Civil Law & Commercial Strategy Division. This is your opportunity to take the next step in your impactful career and be part of a high-performing, purpose-driven team delivering expert legal services on behalf of the NSW Government.

We particularly encourage applications from candidates with demonstrated experience in medical negligence, insurance or acting for defendants in civil claims. This expertise will be highly regarded. Senior Solicitor V applicants must also demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, including the ability to supervise junior solicitors and paralegals. About You

As a Senior Solicitor, you will represent NSW Government agencies in high-profile and complex litigation across various courts and tribunals. Your responsibilities will include providing expert legal advice and advocacy in key areas such as personal injury, medical negligence and coronial inquests. In the Senior Solicitor V role, you will take on additional leadership responsibilities, managing your own legal practice, offering strategic advice on complex legal issues and mentoring junior legal staff.

To succeed in these roles, you will have proven litigation experience, strong legal analysis and drafting skills and a collaborative, client-focused approach. For Senior Solicitor V positions, demonstrated leadership and experience in supervising and developing junior team members are essential.

Torts Service & Regulatory Agencies Practice Group

This team specialises in the defence and resolution of civil claims, particularly personal injury and medical negligence matters and acts for NSW Government agencies in coronial inquests. Our work has real impact and offers diverse legal challenges.

Essential requirements

· Law degree from an accredited institution or Legal Practitioners Admission Board's Diploma in Law

· Admitted or eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW

· Extensive experience in providing advice and representation in complex legal matters, particularly in areas relevant to the Torts Service & Regulatory Agencies Practice Group
