uu&u Recruitment is partnering with the Queensland Department of Education to recruit an experienced Facilities Services Officer (AO3). Based in the Brisbane CBD with flexible hybrid work options, this role will support the management of facilities claims and contribute to the delivery of infrastructure services across the state’s education sites.

About the Company

The Queensland Department of Education is committed to delivering a world-class education system that supports every student to succeed. With a strong focus on equity and excellence, the Department values inclusive, safe, and supportive learning and working environments. Guided by principles of human rights, the Department fosters diverse perspectives and ensures its workforce reflects the community it serves. Employees enjoy access to generous leave entitlements, flexible work arrangements, and professional development opportunities that promote career growth and wellbeing.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and proactive Facilities Services Officer (Claims) to join the Infrastructure Services Division. This role will be instrumental in supporting the assessment and coordination of increased claims arising from natural disasters and other incidents at Department sites. Working within a dedicated team, you will contribute to the ongoing delivery of infrastructure and asset management services that directly support Queensland schools and educational facilities.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage claims and support processes related to departmental facilities impacted by natural disasters and other incidents;
  • Provide operational support and reporting for infrastructure and asset management activities;
  • Collaborate across teams to implement and improve business practices;
  • Assist in resolving enquiries and complaints concerning facilities and assets; and
  • Support the efficient operation of departmental resources, including buildings, equipment, and vehicles.

Required Experience

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong organisational and administrative experience, ideally within a government or infrastructure environment. You’ll demonstrate sound judgement, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic setting.

Key experience includes:

  • Experience in infrastructure, asset management or claims processing, preferably within the public sector;
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve operational issues and implement business improvements;
  • Strong communication skills and experience dealing with stakeholders and customers;
  • Experience in compiling reports, submissions, and maintaining compliance practices; and
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams.

Benefits

This long-term engagement offers stability and the chance to make a tangible impact across Queensland’s education infrastructure. Enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid working model in a central CBD location, along with:

  • Competitive hourly rate + 12.75% superannuation;
  • Genuine work-life balance with flexible hours;
  • Access to public sector learning and development pathways;
  • Collaborative and inclusive team culture; and
  • Opportunity to contribute to meaningful work supporting Queensland communities.
