We’re looking for a creative and highly organised senior producer to deliver key elements of the annual Sydney Open, including the flagship weekend event, the Sydney Open Symposium, and monthly series tours. This is your chance to help grow one of NSW’s most respected cultural programs, engaging the public with the city’s rich architectural and heritage landscape through dynamic, high-quality events.

What we do
Museums of History NSW brings together a portfolio of iconic museums, rich collections and heritage sites, the nation’s oldest archive collection, vital recordkeeping services and expert staff.
We bring history to life by sharing the stories of our places and collections. Through the State Archives Collection, we manage NSW’s official documentary heritage, supporting government transparency and the public’s right to access information.
These two roles do not just sit side by side – they inform and enrich each other. By preserving and making accessible our places, collections and archives, we create opportunities for people to explore the past and better understand their own place in the world. By supporting lifelong learning and inviting people to come together, we promote civic literacy, empathy, wellbeing and belonging.

Museums of History NSW is a state cultural institution, established under the Museums of History NSW Act 2022. It is an agency of the NSW Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS).
What you'll do with us:
Take a leading role in shaping and delivering creative programming for Sydney Open, giving the public access to Sydney’s most iconic buildings. This role involves end-to-end project management—including planning, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, content creation, and sponsor support—while collaborating closely with a dynamic team to bring this major cultural event to life.

What you need to do to apply
To apply you will need to submit the following:
A one to two page cover letter outlining how your skills and experiences meet the essential requirements for this role.
A current resume listing two referees, and
Respond to the 2 targeted questions (no more than 300 words per answer). Your responses to the targeted questions should be submitted online during your application and not included in the covering letter.
What you need to tell us - Targeted questions:
1. Provide an example of when you had to work independently on a range of projects in the face of competing priorities and tight timeframes. In your answer demonstrate how you handled challenges and constraints and managed day-to-day workload alongside long-term deliverables.
2. Tell us about a cultural, creative or major public event you have managed that promoted the engagement of the general public with a specialist subject matter requiring the support of multiple stakeholders and partners. Describe the processes and strategies that you used to ensure the program was delivered successfully.
Essential requirements of the role:
Minimum 4 years’ experience in public program or event management or in a creative producer role and significant knowledge of key trends in cultural programming and audience development, especially in relation to the creative, cultural, architectural or place making sectors.
Demonstrated experience and success in procuring, managing and leveraging stakeholder engagement and partner involvement in programs.
Highly developed negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and establish relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
Proven ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously with limited supervision with changing priorities and pressured deadlines whilst maintaining a flexible and professional approach.
Demonstrated experience preparing high quality proposals, reports, presentations and correspondence.
Excellent project and time management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet strict deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Current Drivers Licence.
Willingness to work across and ability to travel to multiple work locations.

To be eligible for an ongoing role in the NSW Public Sector you need to be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. For temporary and casual roles, you need to hold a valid visa giving you permission to work in Australia as required by the role.
