- 38 hours per week with a 9 day fortnight / Monday to Friday

About the Role
As a key player in our Operations Section, the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator will oversee the operation and maintenance of Wastewater Treatment Plants and pumping stations, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and water recycling guidelines. You'll support, supervise, and train staff, manage risks, and provide top-notch service through reactive maintenance, weekend duties, and 24/7 emergency response. Reporting directly to the Coordinator Southern Wastewater, some duties and responsibilities of this role include:
- Maintain and operate the wastewater treatment plant and pump stations as per the scheduled maintenance plans.
- Operate an advanced treatment process through SCADA, review plant performance and optimise the treatment process.
- Conduct water testing and take action in accordance with statutory requirements (including applying chemicals).
- Respond to alarms and investigate the root cause of faults to implement action in a timely manner.
- Ensure incidents are reported and risks are managed as per relevant plans and legislation.

Being available to be part of an on-call roster and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, relevant trade qualifications or considerable experience in the maintenance or construction of wastewater/water systems.
- Part 1 Basic Wastewater Treatment Operations
- Part 2 Advanced Wastewater Operations
- Current MR Truck licence (or must obtain within 6 months)
- Current NSW First Aid Certificate
- Current National WHS Construction Card (SafeWork)
- Current NSW SafeWork Confined Spaces Entry Certificate
- Chlorine Handling Accreditation
- Crane Operation and Dogging Certificate of Competency
- Demonstrated ability to utilise Council's current technology related to the position including WorxONLINE, OneCouncil. RITEQ, GIS and SCADA systems
We are looking for someone with strong leadership and critical thinking skills with the ability to problem solve when responding to emergency situations or issues in the field.
