The Physiotherapy Department at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Physiotherapist – Advanced (Acute) to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity

  • This position is responsible for providing advanced level skills, knowledge and leadership in multiple areas of acute physiotherapy, with a leadership and coordinating role in the acute area more broadly across the district.
  • This position reports to the Director of Physiotherapy and clinically supervises physiotherapist working in the acute area across the district.

About the Team

The Physiotherapy Department provides services to both adult and paediatric inpatients and outpatients, and directs treatment towards restoring normal function, minimising dysfunction and preventing disability. Physiotherapy is tailored to each individual and is based on the patient's needs.

The Physiotherapy Department has staff members with a wide range of experience – from new graduates to those who have extensive clinical practice. Rotational staff members undertake four month rotations around the various sections of the hospital and community, providing them with the opportunity to continue extending their clinical skills and knowledge across a multitude of areas including; the surgical unit – elective and acute traumatic cases, medical units, the ICU, Rehabilitation – inpatient and community (Community Based Rehabilitation Team, Mobile Allied Health Team, Transition Care Program), orthopaedic outpatient clinics and paediatrics.
