About the role
The NDIS specialist Senior Clinician role has been created to expand the existing NDIS service to better support and capacity build treating teams; act as the interface between Eastern Health and NDIA Health Liaison Officers (HLO) for both bed-based and community consumers across the aged spectrum.
Main responsibilities but not limited to:
- Optimise the opportunities the NDIS presents for eligible consumers of specialist clinical mental health services who have a mental illness or mental disorder and associated psychiatric disability.
- Build and maintain an effective and efficient operational interface and partnership between specialist clinical mental health services and the NDIA, LAC and NDIS funded support providers
- Ensure the specialist clinical mental health workforce at all operational levels (clinicians and lived experience staff) has high literacy on the NDIS principles, role and responsibilities and the NDIS operational pathway; and the knowledge and capability to proactively engage and support consumers and carers throughout the NDIS operational pathway.
- To actively contribute to team planning and development activities within NDIS and work to enhance the profile of the NDIS programme across the Eastern Health Area Mental Health Service through the provision of, effective liaison and service development.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Experience in supporting people with the lived experience of mental ill health
- At least 5 years' mental health experience Registered Psychiatric Nurse / Occupational Therapist / or Social Worker as per EBA.
- Registration with relevant professional organization or body with relevant post graduate qualifications preferably in mental health or community health.
- Ability to work as part of a diverse team and autonomously
- Commitment to supervised practice, ongoing professional development and further developing skills in clinical mental health.
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- You must hold a valid drivers license
Vaccination against infectious disease is a mandatory requirement of this role. An offer of employment is conditional on you providing evidence that you are currently vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster & Influenza, prior to commencing employment.
