About the Role:

This position based at Ravenhall Correctional Centre in Melbourne's west, provides 75 prison-based custodial mental health beds as well as assessments and outpatient services provided in maximum-security forensic mental health complex within the medium-security prison.

The Senior Social Worker works with the social work discipline leads and educators to develop, plan and implement prison-based social work services to achieve and maintain a high standard of consumer care, consistent with the Forensicare Model of Care.

As the Senior Social Worker you will:

• Develop and maintain consultative relationships with key stakeholders including RCC staff, other healthcare professionals, and external mental health, welfare, justice and social support agencies.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills in recording and reporting information to the multidisciplinary team.
• Build and maintain therapeutic relationships with consumers that respect consumer choices, experiences and circumstances; enhancing strengths, hope and resilience in the promotion of Recovery.
• Provide support and education to carers / significant others in the ongoing treatment and care of consumers.

About You:

To be successful in this position, you will have sound knowledge of legislation relevant to the target population, a demonstrated ability to provide high-level leadership, management and supervision of staff and students.

You will have demonstrated experience in delivering specialist social work services including clinical, primary, secondary and tertiary consultation within a complex and dynamic environment. And proven skills and experience in developing and implementing complex case plans involving direct and indirect social work practice.

What you will need:

• Approved degree in Social Work.
• Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
