Local Land Services (LLS) is an Executive Agency within the Department of Regional NSW. It provides quality, customer-focused services to landholders and the community across New South Wales. About the role

Projects & Programs Officer role delivers program activities and advisory services to farmers and the community; implementation of Biosecurity legislation and associated compliance activities; supporting the management of animal and plant biosecurity that contribute to safeguarding the NSW economy, environment and community and meet national and state standards and outcomes; delivery of emergency planning, preparedness, response and recovery services; development of major partnerships and collaboration; negotiation and resolution of Biosecurity issues; provision of leadership and support to small teams; monitoring, evaluation, reporting and improvement of programs and projects and contribute to strategic planning.

We’re seeking an experienced officer to guide the development, management, and implementation of strategic programs and projects for Local Land Services.

In this role, you’ll

  • Oversee high-impact projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with our core objectives.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, manage project budgets, coordinate resources, and foster strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Additionally, you will provide high-level advice to senior management and contribute to the continuous improvement of our project management methodologies.
  • Role is both field and office based with a focus on pest animal management, extension and capacity building of stakeholders within a project plan as well as on farm service delivery
  • Initially you will be working on the implementation and delivery of the Western Riverina Pest Plan

About you

  • You are a natural leader with proven experience in managing complex programs and projects.
  • You have a strong track record of coordinating multidisciplinary teams, negotiating contracts, and building productive partnerships.
  • Your ability to balance diverse stakeholder interests while meeting tight deadlines sets you apart.
  • You thrive in dynamic environments, can tackle complex negotiations, and are committed to delivering high-quality outcomes. In addition to your leadership and strategic planning skills, you have a passion for mentoring and developing your team to achieve their full potential.

Essential requirements

  • Hold or ability to obtain a NSW firearms Licence or equivalent, and a Statement of Attainment (to Use Firearms to humanely destroy animals AQF AHCVPT203A, AHCPMG304)
  • Relevant qualifications or ability to obtain in pesticide application (AQF3 & AQF4) and Authorised Control Officer certificate.
  • The ability to be appointed as an Authorised Officer under the Biosecurity Act.
  • A valid NSW Class C Driver’s Licence with a willingness to travel (including overnight stays) as required.
