Supervisor (Meat Processing, Slaughter Floor)

We are looking for a leader and export standard slaughter floor Supervisor to join our growing team at our Trafalgar site.

You'll oversee the training and upskilling of our team and see their care and development as a priority.

Key responsibilities

To continuously monitor in conjunction with the QA and Operations Manager, the personal hygiene practices of the slaughter floor personnel during production and at production breaks to ensure that the requirements of the General Work Instructions for Employees are always being adhered to.

Reporting any maintenance issues for immediate rectification to maintenance staff.

Advises the Plant Manager and QA on areas of processing which should form targets for training programs and manning level changes

Plans and co-ordinates on the job training for employees within their relevant processing sections. Special attention is paid to new and casual employees to ensure a high standard of hygienic practice is maintained during on-the-job training. Emphasis is placed on helping people to understand why they are expected to perform certain meat safety related duties.

Signs off all training records for employees.

Oversees the conduct of the end of day cleanup activities

Checks work implements, PPE, aprons and apparel prior to the commencement of work.

Monitors and controls personal hygiene practices in the relevant processing sections.

Monitors the employee’s personal hygiene practices on return from production breaks.

Periodically checks the adequacy of facilities, equipment and services.

Implements corrective action with respect to non-conformance in products, procedures, facilities or services to eliminate the source of the problem. Also, to carry out follow up checks to determine if the action has been effective.

Supervises the correct collection and disposal of waste products.

Monitors, controls, and inspects that the correct dropped carcass procedure is being performed.

Flags incidents, risk, people management concerns and barriers to high performance with the management team proactively.
