Ngangganawili Aboriginal Health Service is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide primary health care in a remote community. This is a unique opportunity to experience a part of Australia that few people get to see while working with a committed team of health professionals.

Ngangganawili Aboriginal Health Service (NAHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) that has been providing holistic and culturally secure health services to the Martu and non-indigenous people of the Wiluna and surrounding remote communities since 1993. This GP led Medical Centre provides Emergency and Primary Health Care to the outlying communities including mine sites.

The Shire of Wiluna covers an area of some 184,000 square kilometres, which is predominantly a mining and pastoral area. The town of Wiluna is the principal centre in the Shire. Wiluna is approximately 949 kilometres northeast of Perth and is situated on the edge of the desert at the gateway to the Canning Stock Route and Gunbarrel Highway.

What do you need to offer us?

The role of the Registered Nurse/Midwife at NAHS is to work autonomously as part of a small clinical team including a GP, RNs, Enrolled Nurse, Paramedics, Aboriginal Health Workers, and the Aged Care and Social & Emotional Wellbeing teams in providing best practice in primary health care, chronic disease management, and Emergency services to patients both in the clinic and in the community.

We want you to be highly empathetic and provide a culturally safe clinical service. You will need to be able to build effective relationships with all stakeholders.

You will be required to provide comprehensive primary health care and promote wellbeing and healthy lifestyles, whilst treating a range of acute presentations and emergency care.

Essential requirements for our RN role include:

Current AHPRA Qualifications as a Registered Nurse or Midwife

Experience working in a Primary Health role or autonomous setting

Work with the Martu staff regarding cultural awareness and understanding.

Manual C class Driver's Licence

Possess a WA Working with Children Check

Possess a National Police Clearance no more than 3 months old

Possess an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Certificate or similar.

Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19

Immunisation course current and including administration of COVID vaccines.

Maintain accreditation standards

Desirable requirements that will be a bonus include:

Experience working in an emergency department

Experience working in remote areas or with Aboriginal communities will be highly regarded

Walk-In, triage and treatment room experience

Suturing and casting experience is advantageous

Certified X-Ray Operators are highly desired (or be willing to undertake training)

Experience working in the area of Indigenous Primary Health

Knowledge of the Communicare Patient Management System
