Your next career opportunity
As a Senior Research Fellow at the Collaborative Centre for Genomic Cancer Medicine (the Centre), you'll have the opportunity to establish and lead your own research laboratory, driving advances in genomic cancer medicine. You'll collaborate with researchers from the University of Melbourne, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and international partners like Illumina. Your work will directly impact cancer pathology, precision oncology, and cancer prevention, shaping the future of personalised healthcare.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Establish and Lead Innovative Research: Develop a research programme addressing the Centre's strategic areas in cancer genome discovery, diagnostics, and translation.
- Foster Collaborations: Build productive networks with researchers and clinicians locally, nationally, and internationally to enhance the Centre's reputation.
- Secure Funding and Disseminate Findings: Apply for research grants, engage with philanthropic donors, and publish in high-impact journals.
- Supervise and Mentor: Guide honours, Masters, and Graduate Research students, as well as junior research staff.
You may be a great fit if:
You are an outstanding scientist at the forefront of your research discipline, with a strong track record in cancer genomics or related fields, and the ability to establish and lead innovative research programmes.
You may also:
- Hold a PhD in genetics, pathology, cancer cell biology, computer science, data science, or a related discipline.
- Have a significant research profile with a strong publication record in high-impact journals.
- Possess experience in securing competitive grant funding.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership and mentoring skills.
- Have strong collaborative abilities and communication skills.
- Be committed to fostering diversity and working effectively with individual differences

The Collaborative Centre for Genomic Cancer Medicine is a joint venture of the University of Melbourne and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
