About the role

As a Gardener with Yarra Ranges Council, you’ll maintain and enhance the presentation of parks and streetscapes, applying your horticultural expertise to create vibrant, healthy public spaces. Working both independently and as part of a supportive team, you’ll operate and maintain equipment safely, complete programmed works to specification, and contribute to seasonal planting and landscape improvements. This hands-on role also involves liaising with the community, supporting casual staff, and ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and customer service.

This is a full-time permanent position (38 hours per week).

This is a Band 4 role with a salary range between $70,999 and $75,771 per annum, plus superannuation.

Support work-life balance with a fortnightly or monthly rostered day off and hybrid working arrangements.

Experience and skills we’re looking for

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Knowledge of horticultural and environmental principles and techniques

Ability to safely operate and maintain mowing and vegetation equipment in line with safety standards.

Capacity to work effectively with others and contribute to shared maintenance goals.

Ability to identify and resolve issues that affect vegetation health or safety.

A keen eye for detail to maintain high presentation standards in parks and gardens.

Initiative and accountability to manage tasks independently and meet expectations.

Excellent customer service skills to interact with the public and address enquiries.
