Job Description _ Early Childhood Educator Group Leader
About us:
Parap Family Centre (PFC) is a community based service offering education and care for children aged 6 months to 5 years. We have been an integral part of the Parap community for more than 40 years and pride ourselves on the delivery of a high-quality service for all children and families.
About this role:
This position prepares, delivers and evaluates developmentally appropriate education and care programs for individual children or groups of children in care, whilst ensuring consistently high standards and compliance with the National Quality Framework are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
1. Coordinate the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate programs
2. Ensure all day-to-day activities are consistent with the requirements of the
3. National Quality Framework
4. Develop, plan, implement and evaluate education and care programs based upon written records, and the observations of individual children
5. Supervise, support and guide all workers and students
6. Develop, implement and evaluate children's daily routines including arrivals, departures, eating, sleeping, cleaning up and meals as required
7. Attend staff meetings, professional development and parent meetings, as required
8. Facilitate the transition of new and existing families to and from the service
9. Ensure all relevant records are accurately maintained and kept current
10. Inform parents/guardians about the development progress of their children as appropriate
11. Monitor children’s wellbeing and safety throughout the day, and perform First Aid as required
12. Coordinate and direct junior workers engaged in the implementation of programs and activities in a group setting, and provide mentoring and coaching to assist others with their studies
13. Other duties as directed by the Director or Assistant Director
Selection criteria:
1. Diploma level or higher education level education and care qualification approved under the National Quality Framework (or working towards)
2. Hold or able to obtain a current Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
3. Hold or willing to obtain qualifications approved under the National Quality Framework, including first aid, emergency asthma management and anaphylaxis training
4. Well-developed oral and written communication skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality, records and information
5. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver developmentally appropriate education and care programs, including relevant documentation
6. Willingness and ability to become a ‘certified supervisor’ and ‘nominated supervisor’ (issued by Dept. Education)
