Clinical Practice Manager

Full-time (0.8 FTE considered for the right candidate)

The Nurse Midwife Health Program Australia (NMHPA) is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of nurses, midwives, and students of the professions by offering free, confidential, and compassionate support services. With a vision of better health for healthcare workers and safer care for the public, NMHPA operates nationally via telehealth and in-person services from various locations across Australia. Funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, NMHPA is a key pillar in supporting the nursing and midwifery workforce.

NMHPA are seeking an experienced Clinical Practice Manager to oversee the national clinical service delivery team and service delivery frameworks. This is a full-time role, with hybrid or remote working options available. This full-time role offers an annual salary of 140k (negotiable) plus 12 % superannuation. Access to generous Salary Packaging benefits, Accrued Day Off (ADO) and purchased annual leave available.

About The Role

As the Clinical Practice Manager, you will be responsible for:

Overseeing the NMHPA’s peer to peer counselling and health support services for nurses, midwives and students of the professions.

Leading and Motivating an Effective Team of Clinicians

Ability to set strategic goals and clear expectations, and to inspire clinical teams to continue delivering high-quality care.

Experience in setting performance standards, with strong interpersonal skills to foster a respectful, solutions-focused team environment.

Driving continuous quality improvements in clinical service delivery practice standards, outcomes and staff support.

Capable of leading teams through change initiatives, whether in clinical processes, technology implementation, or policy updates.

Providing informative and timely management and governance briefings reports on clinical practice activity, outcomes, developments and performance.

Preparing timely and accurate reports to relevant external parties including funding bodies and regulators as required.

Building and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders, providers and NMHPA leadership and staff across Australia.

Clinical Practice & Professional Development

Overseeing a strong framework of best-practice, high performance service delivery practices, policies and documentation.

Understanding of clinical governance frameworks and the ability to ensure compliance with standards, frameworks and policy requirements.

Identifying and coordinating professional development and clinical supervision for the clinical team, both mandatory and elective.

Coordinating peer review participant engagement and service delivery processes.

What We’re Looking For

NMHPA are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented leader with:

A relevant tertiary qualification in nursing or midwifery, including specialist qualifications in a related field (e.g., mental health, drug and alcohol or family domestic violence)

Proven ability to develop, implement, and monitor clinical service delivery at a national level.

Experience in managing, developing and mentoring senior clinical staff.

Ability to identify and mitigate clinical risks, promote patient safety, and ensure robust incident reporting and follow-up processes to enhance organisational safety and quality.

Proven ability in driving continuous improvement in clinical service delivery standards, outcome and staff support.

Experience advising senior leadership and boards, influencing a culture of continuous improvement, particularly in mission-driven organisations.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate relevant education and training opportunities that supports staff to deliver quality support services to nurse and midwives.

The ability to provide strategic recommendations while balancing compliance with operational and financial constraints in non-for-profit settings.

Understanding of privacy laws, data security, and confidentiality requirements in a health-related or community-based setting, ensuring ethical governance and best-practice health service delivery.
