Join the Technical team at Bluey’s World as Technical Crew!

We’re expanding our team and looking for some more AV superstars to join our Technical Team. Working alongside our Technical 2IC, Technical Systems Specialist, Technical Supervisors and Technical Specialists, you will be integral to the smooth operations of Bluey’s World technical equipment.

You will help troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise on a show day, assist with maintenance and installation during dark days and install days and contribute to the overall technical success of the Bluey’s World experience.

This position requires strong technical knowledge and hands on AV Technician experience. We are looking for people with flexibility to work across all days of the week including evenings and weekends. There is also opportunity for professional development and training within the business, with the potential to move into Operator and Supervisor positions if suitable once onboarded.

Rate of pay: $32.31/hr ordinary rate. $45.24 Sunday

Job Description

The Highlights:

Join a dynamic and innovative team at Bluey's World, a world-first children’s experience in Northshore, Hamilton. This is an operational phase role.

General Duties

· Representation and Professionalism:

- Represent AKM, HVK, Bluey's World, and all critical stakeholders, focusing on adhering to and executing the production schedule.

- Adhere to appropriate dress codes for physical work including appropriate PPE and wear neat, smart black clothing or supplied uniforms during the event phase. Where Bluey’s World identification lanyard when not in uniform onsite.

· Health and Safety Responsibilities:

- Adhere to high Work Safety standards in line with WHS Legislation.

- Ensure the preservation of public property and the natural environment.

- Only work with relevant skills, knowledge, training, and experience or under proper supervision.

- Conduct safety checks for any tools, plant and access equipment before use.

- Be aware of health and safety risks on-site and follow site rules and procedures.

- Report any risks promptly to the site manager or your supervisor.

- Clean as you go, dispose of waste correctly, use tools correctly, and wear Hi-Viz and adequate PPE.

· Attendance and Communication:

- Arrive promptly for shifts, sign in/out diligently on Deputy, and ask for help when unsure about tasks.

- Refer to AirTable or Google Docs for daily task allocation

- Attend all daily safety briefings (toolbox talks) as required.

- Regularly liaise with supervisors for additional tasks when not busy.

- Direct public enquiries as appropriate to a member of the management team.

· Production Activities:

- Assist technical staff with lighting, sound, and AV equipment install.

- Troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.

- Assist in securing the site nightly close, including locking all containers, venue doors, and gates.

- Contribute to the ongoing planning of maintenance activities.

- Any other tasks directed by the Technical Manager, Production Management team or General Manager as may reasonably be expected.

· Incident Reporting and Hazard Management:

- Report any risks promptly to the Site Manager or your supervisor.

- Identify and assist in completing any reports on-site for incidents, hazards, or near misses.

- Collaborate with Site Management and other relevant personnel to eliminate identified hazards and maintain a safe work environment.

- Promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance among all site workers.

· Tool Management and Site Neatness:

- Maintain cleanliness of welfare amenities.

- Label HVK equipment, assets, and set pieces for a smooth rebuild and asset protection.

- Ensure the Workshop area is tidy and organised, and equipment is back in the right spot each day.

- Use tools correctly and return them after use to the store area.

- Clean the working area as you complete each section.

- HVK will provide all necessary tools for completing tasks. Personal tools are not required. However, if you choose to bring your own, you are welcome to do so at your own risk.

Specific Duties – Technical Crew

· Technical Installation:

Assisting the Technical department with the installation of technical equipment, including but not limited to:

- Building trusses and other temporary structures.

- Hanging lights, speakers, projectors, cabling, and accessories.

- Assisting in the rigging of flown elements.

- Running sound and signal cables.

· Daily Operational Activities:

- Help conduct equipment inventory and ensure all materials and equipment are labelled correctly.

- Troubleshoot daily fixups and with technical and show specific gear

Applicant Requirements

· Experience and Expertise:

- Prior experience in Audio Visual Production

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, following instructions and collaborating with colleagues.

- Willingness to learn and adapt to various tasks and responsibilities within the production team.

· Familiarity with WHS Legislation:

- Knowledge of Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) Legislation and site safety practices.

· Physical Stamina and Agility:

- Capable of performing manual labour tasks for extended periods, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions.

- Ability to work efficiently and safely in fast-paced environments, adhering to established safety protocols and guidelines.

· Reliability and Punctuality:

- Dependable and punctual attendance, with a commitment to meeting project deadlines and schedules.

- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by project demands.

· Communication Skills:

- Clear verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members and follow instructions.

- Basic literacy skills to understand written instructions and safety guidelines.

· Adaptability and Initiative:

- Ability to quickly learn new tasks and adapt to changing project requirements.

- Willingness to take initiative and contribute ideas for improving workflow efficiency and safety protocols.

- Ability to adapt to changing situations on site.

· Proactive Problem-Solving Abilities:

- Skilled at anticipating and resolving issues, maintaining a calm and solution-focused approach under pressure.

· Attention to Detail:

- Ability to follow instructions precisely and pay attention to detail when performing tasks such as equipment setup, staging, and teardown.

· Desirable Qualifications:

- Understanding of technical equipment commonly used in event production (e.g., lighting, sound, rigging).

- Familiarity with technical terminology commonly used in event production.

- Experience working in venues such as festivals, theatres, or exhibition spaces.

- Any relevant certifications or training related to event production or workplace safety.

- White Card, Forklift or Boomlift Licence and Working at Heights training
