About the Role:
The overall purpose of the role is to make significant contributions to the teaching effort in arts and humanities disciplines and to contribute to the College through academic, relevant administrative, research and engagement activities. A teaching and research academic at this level is also expected to play a role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities.
The senior lecturer will design and teach units, including online and preparatory material as well as convene units of study. The successful applicant will be required to perform administration and leadership expected at this level and have supervisory responsibilities for some staff.
This is a full-time continuing position (Teaching and Research) at Academic Level C $134,005 - $154,514 plus 17% superannuation, working 36.75 (1 FTE) hours per week.
An example of your responsibilities or duties you may perform will include:
Lead, support and contribute to curriculum development and teaching units of study in the Gender Studies minor and/or the Political Science minor and/or the Sociology major;
Participate in administrative duties and academic leadership, participating in program and college meetings and contribute to committees;
Independently prepare and deliver curriculum content, including unit coordination, marking, assessment and consultation with students;
Independently, and in collaboration with other relevant staff, conduct and disseminate research in areas of expertise, including supervising research students;
Provide guidance and leadership through peer mentoring, particularly for less experienced academic staff.
About You:
A PhD qualification is required for this position.
Preference will be given to applicants with current or recent experience in higher education. The ideal candidate will value student-centred approaches to learning, and compassionately support students from diverse backgrounds to achieve their goals.
