Workfast is looking for a hands-on and reliable Mechanical Trade Assistant/ Apprentice Mechanical Fitter to join the workshop team of a leading engineering company in Chipping Norton.

Location: Chipping Norton, NSW
Pay Rate: $37.50 per hour + Overtime + Super
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm
Start Date: ASAP

This is a hands-on role involving support with the overhaul, testing, and certification of air brake components used in diesel-electric locomotives. The position offers consistent full-time hours and the potential to transition into a permanent role.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assist with the overhaul and assembly of air brake components used in rail applications
• Use hand and power tools to clean, strip, and prep mechanical parts
• Maintain a safe and organised workshop environment
• Support fitters with disassembly and reassembly work
• Follow instructions from tradespeople and workshop supervisors
• Conduct visual inspections and basic mechanical tasks as directed

About You

• Previous experience as a Trade Assistant or in a mechanical/industrial workshop
• Currently enrolled in or ready to begin a Mechanical Fitter apprenticeship
• Comfortable using hand and power tools
• Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Physically fit and able to handle manual work
• Safety-conscious and reliable
