ROLE/DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Service Manager, the Electronics Repair Technician is responsible for the repair and testing of faulty PCBs, sub-assemblies, and final products - either returned from the field or identified during production. The role requires strong component-level troubleshooting, precision soldering, and a keen eye for fault patterns. You'll also contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts across the repair and production process.
Key responsibilities include:
Diagnosing and repairing faults on digital and analogue PCB assemblies
Performing advanced soldering (through-hole, surface mount, BGA, reflow)
Testing and assembling electronic medical devices
Using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, function generators, safety analysers, and power supplies
Documenting test results, failure trends, and repair activity
Supporting engineers with product testing and data collection
Determining repair viability of returned devices and advising on next steps
Maintaining accurate records in the Microsoft CRM RMA module
Reporting on monthly KPIs and contributing to quality improvement initiatives
REQUIREMENTS
Diploma or Associate Degree in Electronics, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
High-level soldering and fault-finding skills at the component level
Strong understanding of electronic principles and ability to read schematics
Experience using a wide range of test and diagnostic equipment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word)
IPC-A 600/610 and 7711/7721 certifications desirable
Must currently reside in Australia with Permanent Residency or Citizenship
Must be available to work full-time on site (no remote work available)
