Environment Manager – Tier 1 Transport Infrastructure Projects

I’m working with a major infrastructure contractor on a key appointment for an Environment Manager to support a long-term program of transport and maintenance works across NSW. If you're a proactive and technically strong environmental professional looking to step into a leadership role on major projects, this could be a great next move.

About the Role

This is a senior role, responsible for the full spectrum of environmental management on a complex transport program. You'll play a hands-on part in project delivery and compliance, while mentoring junior advisors and driving continuous improvement in environmental systems and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, review and manage environmental assessments, including Review of Environmental Factors (REFs)

Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and government requirements

Implement and improve the Environmental Management System in line with ISO14001 and Group EH&S standards

Provide expert advice on environmental risk, compliance, and best practice

Work closely with TfNSW Environmental Teams and key internal stakeholders

Monitor site compliance, conduct inspections and audits, and lead incident investigations

Mentor Environmental Advisors and support their development

Contribute to reporting, governance, and systemic improvements in environmental processes

What We're Looking For:

Degree-qualified in Environmental Science, Engineering or Environmental Management

5+ years’ experience in infrastructure or civil construction environments

Solid knowledge of NSW environmental legislation and TfNSW Specification G36.

Experience preparing environmental documentation, including REFs.

Understanding of ISO14001 and EMS auditing (Lead Auditor certification desirable).

Strong report writing, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.
