Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association
Posted 2 days ago
The Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association (MDAA) is a leading organisation in NSW advocating for the rights and interests of people with disability, specialising in supporting people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. We are committed to inclusion, empowerment, and social justice.
We are seeking passionate and skilled Disability Advocates to join our dedicated team. This role is about problem-solving and ensuring people living with disability are able to exercise their rights and access services, the community, and fair treatment everyone has a right to. You will work with people living with disability and their support networks to build capacity and take steps to solve problems, assisting with communication, making applications, making complaints, and appealing decisions.
We receive all kinds of requests for assistance, and it can be challenging and interesting, requiring creativity and critical approaches to perform the role. We also work with the community, drive systemic change, and provide outreach to educate people living with disability about their rights.
Typically, you will be assisting with matters relating to the NDIS, housing, Centrelink, and education—but we support people with a very broad range of issues affecting those living with disability. You will also, from time to time, engage in our systemic advocacy work, create education forums, and perform outreach. There is the opportunity to travel in this role. We also provide a range of training and learning opportunities.

Psychology or other allied health
High-level written and verbal communication skills
Lived experience
Locations:
