Workplace Health & Safety Lead
Base Salary circa $120K – $145K + Super
Permanent | Full-Time | Based in Armadale
Lead WHS with clarity, purpose and impact.
You know that safety doesn’t improve with posters on the wall. It improves when leaders walk the floor, listen with intent, and make sure systems work where they matter most in the real world.
At the City of Armadale, we’re ready for a fresh, focused approach to WHS. We’re looking for a confident, experienced leader who brings practical safety strategies, clear advice, and a collaborative approach. This is a role with direct influence reporting to a Head of HR who truly values what great WHS leadership can deliver and will back you to lead, shape, and embed it.
What you’ll be driving
The next 12 months will see you:
- Roll out a modern digital WHS solution across the City making safety reporting easier, faster, and more visible.
- Refine and uplift our Workers Compensation and Injury Management approach, with an eye on smarter support, reduced costs, and better outcomes.
- Lead a capable WHS team to deliver proactive, practical guidance across a wide range of operational environments.
- Continue to mature our WHS system and framework to align with the City’s growth lifting capability, clarifying roles, and reducing risks.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Bring credibility from time spent in operational or high-risk industries and can engage calmly across all levels of a diverse workforce.
- Are known for practical WHS advice that people listen to and follow through on.
- Enjoy leading a small team and coaching others to embed safe systems and ways of working.
- Have experience improving WHS systems, leading investigations, working with insurers, and building capability from the ground up.
- Are looking for a role with autonomy, purpose, and a supportive senior leader who’ll help you get things done.
