Job Title: Health & Safety & Environment Representative

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Health, Safety and Environment Representative with both mining and construction experience. HSE experience on mine sites would be held in high regard. The role will be responsible for managing all aspects of health, safety and environmental matters within the company, ensuring compliance with relevant Australian health, safety and environmental laws and regulations across these diverse work environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage health and safety across all areas of the company, including mining sites, construction bases, warehouses, and offices, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and regulations.

Develop, refine, and update health and safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet government requirements, and ensure they are effectively implemented across the organization.

Develop and implement health and safety training plans for employees across various roles, ensuring they are properly trained in relevant safety standards and procedures.

Conduct regular inspections and safety audits to identify and eliminate potential hazards in the workplace, ensuring the safety of all personnel.

Respond promptly to safety incidents, lead incident investigations, and perform site investigations to analyze causes and develop corrective measures.

Manage and maintain health and safety data, records, and documentation in accordance with legal requirements and best practices, ensuring they are accessible when needed.

Collaborate with Mining and Construction project teams to support health and safety audits and ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations.

Improve safety performance, such safety management, key risk verification, etc., to enhance the company’s WHS capabilities.

Promote communication and cooperation regarding health and safety across the company.

Ensure all sites and office personnel comply with company safety policies and statutory requirements through education, training, and regular audits.

Contribute to the development and nurturing of a positive health and safety culture within the organization, ensuring safety is prioritized by all employees.

Provide daily WHS support for all on-site personnel.

Maintain the company’s risk register, ensuring that risks are assessed and controlled promptly to minimize safety risks.

Qualifications:

Hold a Diploma in WHS and a minimum of 5 years HSE experience in mining/construction / heavy industry or manufacturing industry.

Have an ICAM Lead Investigator certification or be willing to obtain

A Rehabilitation and Return to Work Certificate

A Certificate IV Training and Assessment

High-Risk Licenses (Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, White Card)

A valid driver’s license.

Solid investigation and analytical skills

A strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of employees.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey health and safety requirements and policies.

Excellent skills in word processing and MS Office, with the ability to efficiently manage documentation and reports.

Previous experience in health and safety management in Mining or Constructions environments is preferred.

Certificates required:

Diploma in WHS.

ICAM Lead Investigator Certification

A Rehabilitation and Return to Work Certificate

A Certificate IV Training and Assessment

High-Risk Licenses (Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, White Card)

A valid driver’s license.

Additional Information:

Travel is required to Mining sites, Construction areas and offices.
