About the role

Silkstone State School P&C is seeking a passionate and skilled Tuckshop Convenor/Cook (30 hours/week) and Tuckshop Assistant (3 hours/day Wed-Fri)! You will be responsible for preparing and cooking delicious lunch meals for our students and staff, in a fast-paced, friendly environment. If you’re someone who can inspire and manage costs effectively while delivering delicious, nutritious lunches to our school community, then we want to hear from you!

What you'll be doing:

Preparing and cooking a variety of food in large quantities, ranging from sandwiches to hot meals, in accordance with healthy food guidelines (QLD Gov ‘Smart Choices’).

Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards and Workplace Health and Safety.

Leading the volunteer team to ensure efficient workflow and timely delivery of lunch orders.

Interacting with students and providing exceptional customer service to the broader school community (including families and school staff).

Coordinating special event meal deal days and implementing new recipes as needed.

Maintaining inventory, stock take, ordering supplies, and minimising food waste.

What we're looking for:

Experience in food service, hospitality, or a similar hands-on kitchen role.

Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques.

Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.

Understanding of budgets and cost control measures.

A knack for organising people, schedules, and supplies and a heart for healthy food and helping kids thrive.

Knowledge of FlexiSchools is an advantage.
