Youturn is proud to deliver the StandBy Support After Suicide program – Australia’s leading suicide postvention service, providing compassionate care and coordinated support to those bereaved or impacted by suicide.
We are currently seeking an experienced and empathetic Regional Coordinator to lead our StandBy service delivery across the Northern Territory Primary Health Network (PHN) region. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting communities, leading a team, and making real change.
What you’ll be doing:
As the StandBy Regional Coordinator, you will:
Lead and coordinate the delivery of the StandBy program across the NT PHN region.
Provide leadership and support to a dedicated support team, including the Lived Experience Lead Worker and casual Support Team.
Deliver postvention support to individuals, families, and communities bereaved or impacted by suicide.
Facilitate training, education and capacity-building activities with community groups, services, and stakeholders.
Respond to support requests and critical incidents in a timely and compassionate manner.
Champion community engagement initiatives based on asset-based community development principles.
Coordinate supervision, data collection, reporting and continuous quality improvement in line with the StandBy Model.
Participate in and represent the NT site in relevant state and national forums.
What you’ll bring:
Significant experience supporting people through suicide bereavement, grief, trauma, or mental health challenges.
Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in allied health, social work, mental health, counselling or community services.
Experience in community development and stakeholder engagement, with strong networks and cultural awareness of NT communities.
Demonstrated leadership skills, including supporting staff development and managing on-call response operations.
Experience in providing supervision and self-care strategies in emotionally demanding roles.
High-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present, facilitate, and collaborate across diverse audiences.
Commitment to inclusive practice and embracing lived experience perspectives.
To be successful, you will also need:
NT Driver Licence and ability to travel regularly throughout the region.
Eligibility for a Working with Children Check.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) – or willingness to obtain.
A strong understanding of suicide postvention principles and the needs of individuals and communities bereaved by suicide.
The ability to lead with compassion, professionalism, and resilience.

StandBy is Australia’s leading suicide postvention program dedicated to assisting people and communities bereaved or impacted by suicide. StandBy provides free face-to face or telephone support by local caring staff, committed to the wellbeing of the person or group impacted. The program provides a central point of coordination, connecting people to the various supports they may need through referrals to services, groups and organisations within their local area.
