The Role
Based at our Clarence Campus, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Building Surveyor to step into a teaching and mentoring role, helping shape the future of Tasmania’s built environment.
The Teacher/Associate Teacher – Building Surveying will play a key role in delivering high-quality training to students looking to become the next generation of certified professionals in the construction industry.
On any given day, your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching and inspiring students in the field of Building Surveying
- Supporting learners both on campus and online
- Developing and coordinating teaching and assessment materials aligned with industry standards
- Providing expert advice and guidance to students, employers, and stakeholders
What Will You Bring
To be eligible for this role, you must meet at least one of the nationally mandated assessor requirements:
- Be licensed as a Building Surveyor Level 1 or Level 2 (or equivalent) in your state or territory, or
- Demonstrate current membership of a relevant industry association and be currently registered on the National Building Professionals Register in the Building Industry Control category (Level 1), or
- Be accredited under the AIBS National Accreditation Scheme as a Building Surveyor, or be accredited by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as a building certifier
You’ll also need:
- Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying (minimum), with higher level Building Surveying qualifications highly desirable
- An enthusiasm for mentoring the next generation of professionals
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40122) or a willingness to work toward it
A current Working with Vulnerable People registration is required, or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
