Full Time Drama & Musical Theatre Teacher
Speak Up Studio
Posted 13 days ago
We really hope you are the person we are looking for. And we hope Speak Up is the place for you!
We are currently seeking Brisbane-based musical theatre + drama teachers who are looking for a new teaching home.
π Who We Are
Speak Up Studio creates exciting drama programs that build confidence and encourage kids to be positive about speaking up. Our philosophy is about giving kids a safe place to express themselves as they develop their performance skills.
π¦ Role Purpose
As a Senior Teacher at Speak Up, your primary role is to deliver beautiful classes that bring out the best in your students. As your teaching is limited to after school classes (around 20 hours) to make up a full time role, Senior Teachers are also involved in coordinating programs and pulling off creative projects. Speak Up is a collaborative and creative teaching environment that draws on the unique strengths of each team member.
π¬ Teaching
Senior Teachers at Speak Up teach across our Storytellers, Inventors, Performers & Dreamers programs, with a schedule that is designed around your preferred age groups and teaching locations. Our programs blend speech and drama and musical theatre. Our students perform at the end of each semester, so we spend the first part of the semester building skills and the second part of the semester crafting unique and memorable performances. Our kids are drama kids through-and-through and it's amazing having so much dramatic talent in each of our classrooms. We value small class sizes, and we make sure every student has an opportunity to have their moment in the spotlight.
π© Creative Projects
Our teachers are a creative bunch and tend to have skills or interest in sewing, graphic design, marketing, curriculum writing, prop making or party planning. We'd love to hear what creative skills you would bring to the role of Senior Teacher and other areas of the studio you may decide to focus on!
π Program Coordination
Senior Teachers are also involved in coordinating specific programs to bring a personal touch to each of our programs. Coordination involves being across the timetable, enrolment periods and parent communication for a particular program and being the βgo toβ person for admin questions. If you're an organiser, a detail queen and love ticking things off a list, you'll thrive in this aspect of your role.
π Why You Should Apply
Speak Up is a special organisation with a very unique set of values. We don't care if our shows aren't perfect. In fact, our idea of perfect is where kids have stepped outside of their comfort zones and grown as performers. We don't expect you to work for free at events or to check emails when you aren't at work. Many of our kids are with us for years and years and it's a privilege to watch them grow up on our stage. If you're done with classroom teaching, if you're a performer thinking of making the switch to teaching, or a drama kid who isn't ready for a corporate job please get in touch!
βοΈHow to Apply
This is no ordinary job, so there'll be no ordinary applications! To apply please send your resume and application project to [email protected]. Please demonstrate your attention to detail by ensuring your cover letter is in the body of the email and your resume is attached as a PFD. What's an application project, you ask? Well, whatever you like! A poster? A video? An interpretive dance? Create something that tells us who you are and why this is the perfect job for you and include it in your application email.
β±οΈ Applications close 18th July 2025.
β Applications received via Seek will not be considered.
