The Role

Technical Threats and Visibility Branch – EL2 Directors and EL2 Deputy Directors – Key Duties:
- Lead, manage and shape a cyber-defence mission, ensuring coordination across ASD’s ACSC.
- Provide leadership and direction to a team of cyber and intelligence professionals, ensuring planning and activities are in accordance with organisational priorities and objectives.
- Provide clear and consistent communication to your team, colleagues and stakeholders. In doing so, set clear performance and behavioural standards, manage performance, delegate responsibility, and guide and develop people.
- Manage allocated resources, setting work area priorities, workflows and developing strategies to further ASD’s objectives.
- Build and sustain key partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including national partner agencies, and represent ASD at relevant national and multinational meetings and activities.
Customer and International Engagement Branch – EL2 Director International Partnerships – Key Duties:
- Lead, plan and manage the development, advocacy and implementation of advice on very complex strategic and international policy issues to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and direction to ensure a high level of integration and consistency across the Australian Signals Directorate strategic and international policy function.
- Manage and lead a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility, guiding and developing people.
- Manage allocated resources, setting work area priorities, workflows and developing strategies to further the Australian Signals Directorate objectives.
- Prepare very complex briefing material, reports and other correspondence to support the Australian Signals Directorate's agenda.
- Advise stakeholders on the Australian Signals Directorate and national security interests and issues; including identifying emerging challenges and making policy recommendations within a very complex strategic and international environment.
- Build and sustain key partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including national partner agencies, and represent the Australian Signals Directorate at relevant national and multinational meetings and activities.
Negotiate persuasively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the Australian Signals Directorate's policy objectives.
About our Team
Technical Threats and Visibility
Working as a part of ASD’s Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), Technical Threats and Visibility (TTV) Branch understands and detects cyber threats of national significance to Australia. In undertaking this mission, we inform defensive cyber activities, improve resilience and make a positive contribution to national security. Our analysts, who fuse technical cyber and traditional intelligence analysis skills, use ASD’s unique tools and data sources to be leaders in threat detection, malware reverse engineering, adversary emulation, and threat blocking. TTV Branch is also multi-disciplinary and geographically dispersed, working closely with an array of partners to support ASD’s ACSC in leading the Australian Government’s efforts to improve cyber security.
Customer and International Engagement
Part of Signals Intelligence and Effects Group, Customer and International Engagement (CIE) Branch coordinates and enhances ASD's collaboration with partners around the world. International Partnerships (IP), within CIE Branch, contributes to fostering partnerships with established and emerging international counterparts, forges new relationships with partners, and promotes information sharing, cyber security awareness and cyber upskilling across the region, there are three International Partnerships sections within CIE Branch:
- Second Party (IP-2P): supports ASD’s bilateral partnerships with our Five Eyes partners.
- Third Party (IP-3P): coordinates and manages ASD’s bilateral and multilateral partnerships with Third Party Partners (countries outside of the Five Eyes).
- Visits and Protocol (IP-VP): provides logistical support to inbound international visits for ASD’s Director-General and Deputy Director-Generals. The IP-VP team delivers the secretariat functions for International Engagement Committees, and provides guidance and support to ASD employees posting overseas.

We are seeking enthusiastic and high-performing individuals who:
- Have demonstrated experience or ability to lead a multidisciplinary team to achieve high-quality outcomes.
- Have demonstrated experience in exercising a significant degree of independence, and the ability to apply judgement to high-level decision making. They are responsive to challenging tasks under limited supervision.
- Have in-depth knowledge, or have the ability to attain this knowledge, of legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Australian Signals Directorate’s mission and policy requirements.
- Actively manage key stakeholder relationships, identify relevant stakeholders’ expectations and concerns to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes.
- Have a superior standard of interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Will represent ASD and work collaboratively to manage expectations, prioritise lines of effort and influence outcomes.
