About the role:
We’re currently seeking an experienced and motivated Food Service Assistant (Barista) to join our friendly team at the onsite café at Manningtree Retirement Village in Hawthorn.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in creating a warm and welcoming environment for our residents and visitors, serving high-quality barista-style coffee and light meals with a smile. You will work as part of a dedicated hospitality team, ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve barista-made coffee, tea, and beverages
- Assist with light meal service, food preparation, and general kitchen duties
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and dining areas
- Provide friendly and respectful service to residents, visitors, and staff
- Follow all food safety and infection control procedures
- Contribute to resident’s quality of life and nutrition and hydration well-being through the provision of quality food services
- Maintain routine and variable cleaning schedules for food preparation and food service areas in accordance with the requirements of the Food Safety Program
- You will be organised and keen to serve, you appreciate and respond to resident needs by listening and communicating well, escalating any concerns as needed, whilst ensuring resident privacy and dignity is always maintained
About you:
You are passionate about what you do and want to make a difference in the lives of our residents enhancing their self-esteem and empowering them to make choices.

- Completion of a Basic Food Handlers Certificate (preferred)
- A friendly and reliable attitude
- Proven experience as a barista (essential)
- Previous experience in a hospitality or aged care setting (preferred)
- known for your caring and compassionate nature
- Have the initiative and ability to work without supervision
- Thrive in a team and also appreciate the one to one interactions
- Are committed to being part of a workplace culture based on the BEST way of life (Believe, Excel, Support and Trust)
Essentials for working in Aged Care:
- A current Working With Children Check card
- Current and ongoing flu vaccinations
- Australian working rights
- Ability to pass a national police clearance and NDIS Clearance
