At CatholicCare, we are excited for a Crisis Support Worker - Domestic Violence Response Enhancement (DVRE) to join our dedicated team in providing business hours crisis case management support to women and families escaping domestic and family violence in the Northern Sydney District. This role will focus on bridging the gap and offering continuous support following after-hours crisis interventions.
Working within business hours (10:00 am – 6:00 pm) Monday - Friday, the successful candidate will provide face-to-face support to clients linked with our DVRE team. This role will be based in our offices in the Ryde area and include addressing immediate needs, providing crisis case management, and ensuring ongoing safety for women and their children is prioritised. Key responsibilities will include undertaking risk assessments, safety planning, resource navigation, and referring clients to longer-term support services.
This is a permanent, full-time permanent position, based in the office. Due to nature of this role, there will be no flexibility to work from home.

Key responsibilities:
- Provide face-to-face crisis support to women and families, addressing immediate safety needs and providing practical assistance.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety planning to support clients in navigating their situation.
- Provide wholistic crisis case management, ensuring clients are linked with appropriate resources, such as accommodation, legal, and health services.
- Assist clients in accessing longer-term support, including advocacy for housing, financial support, and counselling services.
- Engage with clients to address immediate emotional and practical needs, offering compassionate and trauma-informed care.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition from crisis support to longer-term assistance.
- Maintain accurate, confidential case notes and reports.
To be successful in this role, you will be required have:
- Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate area e.g., Degree in Social Work, Degree Social Science/Welfare, Degree in Psychology/Counselling, or related discipline and/or demonstrated relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of domestic/family violence including knowledge and familiarity with the dynamics of abusive relationships, legal matters, child protection and custody issues; ability to support complex and/or high-level needs.
- Experience in providing crisis support and intervention services to people experiencing domestic and/or family violence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and support services.
- A current valid, Australian driver’s license and insured vehicle.
