The Axis Hire team are currently looking for a HSE Advisor to join our team in Bunbury.

Axis Hire provide a wide range of heavy equipment, vehicle hire, and ancillary onsite services in the mining, civil, and construction sectors through Australia. The provision of our diverse range of fit for purpose equipment (>400 individual assets) is further supported by providing maintenance services for the hired fleet to strengthen the business of our customers.

The Axis Hire business is based in WA and spread throughout various regions (the Pilbara, Midwest and Southwest) with Bunbury being the companies base where we have purpose-built maintenance facilities that are used to facilitate equipment inspection, repair, and rebuilds.

Reporting to the Head of Business Improvement, the HSE Advisor will be responsible for leading the implementation of health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a culture of safety.

The role will play an important part in providing technical, behavioural, and leadership coaching to front-line managers and employees in best-practice health, safety, and environment, work process.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide health, safety and environmental (HSE) subject matter advice and expertise to improve safety management, culture and performance.

· Maintain knowledge of contemporary HSE practices to recommend and implement effective HSE solutions that comply with relevant HSE legislation and company standards.

· Monitor work practices to ensure adherence to HSE standards, analyse/identify potential hazards, assess risks and implement effective corrective action measures to mitigate workplace risk.

· Conduct and facilitate HSE risk assessments, audits, inspections, and investigations, and play a lead role in the administration of the HSE Forum, HSEQ Phasing Plan, HSEQ Registers and Contractor Management work processes.

· Promote, develop, and enforce HSE policies and procedures.

· Deliver training, coaching and mentoring programs to enhance workforce awareness and compliance with safety protocols.

About You

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.

· Proven experience in HSE advisory roles in heavy equipment, maintenance or industrial environments

· Certificate IV, Diploma, or Degree in Work Health, Safety and Environment (or related field), is preferred

· ICAM (or similar) Lead Investigator certification and root cause analysis experience, is preferred

· Strong experience in incident investigation, audit processes, and risk management

· Ability to assist in updating and overseeing all HSE information as it changes in State and Federal Legislation to ensure all Policies and Procedures continue to comply.

· Experience with WHSMS software (systems knowledge of SiteDocs is preferred)

· Intermediate to advanced computer literacy skills (MS Office suite)

· Ability to multitask and be agile with excellent time management skills

· Willingness to get involved, and engage the team via a collaborative, team-first mindset
