We are dedicated to safeguarding both human and animal health by preventing and mitigating plant and animal pests and diseases. We work tirelessly to uphold a high level of animal welfare standards and maintain access to interstate markets, critical for Queensland's thriving primary industries. Biosecurity Queensland monitors and regulates the application of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, ensuring they are used safely and in compliance with legislation. With a commitment to developing capabilities and preparedness, we are at the forefront of protecting Queensland against biosecurity risks.
Animal Biosecurity and Welfare (ABW) supports BQ's efforts to prevent, prepare, respond to, and recover from diseases threatening livestock industries and maintaining access to markets. Our people work together to help mitigate biosecurity risks, uphold standards for animal welfare and animal management and lead the overall DPI response to biosecurity emergency incidents to achieve outcomes consistent with the Department's strategic direction for leadership in animal welfare, exhibited animal, animal management and animal ethics policy and service delivery.
