Some of your responsibilities will include:
o Monitor and respond to new and emerging environmental issues that affect transport infrastructure delivery, maintenance and operation, providing expert advice and delivering strategic solutions that have a whole of government focus and align with other areas of TMR.
o Lead the development and management of the department's environmental management system and other departmental manuals, guidelines and technical notes to ensure that the system meets the needs and environmental legislative requirements.
o Provide environmental services to transport infrastructure projects and provide leadership for one or more environmental maintenance programs.
o Manage state-wide responses to Ministerial inquiries, Cabinet submissions and general enquiries and lead the preparation of departmental and whole of government environmental reporting requirements.
o Develop and maintain effective relationships across the department and with other agencies and organisations concerned with the management of environmental issues.
A current key focus area for the team is on PFAS management and contaminated land. This position will be involved in this focus area. However, the role may also be involved in some other areas including biodiversity (EPBC / Offsets / management & monitoring of installed fauna infrastructure / fish passage) and biosecurity (fire ants).
