About The Opportunity
Western’s School of Social Sciences are seeking an outstanding academic leader for the newly created position of Head of Program, Associate Degree Applied Policing. This full-time ongoing role is based at our Goulburn campus and is delivered in partnership with the NSW Police Academy.
In this pivotal role, you will provide strategic leadership and academic direction for the Associate Degree in Applied Policing, ensuring alignment with the University’s mission and strategic priorities. You will champion excellence in learning and teaching, drive student and community engagement, lead curriculum innovation and quality assurance, and oversee financial and resource management. Working in close collaboration with the Dean and Deputy/Associate Dean’s, you will ensure the effective planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of the curriculum. A central focus of the role will involve building and maintaining strong partnerships with the NSW Police Force and other key stakeholders and translating these relationships into meaningful program outcomes. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring course and subject quality alignment with the University’s Academic Standards and Assessment Framework, while maintaining compliance with institutional policies and procedures.

Location
This position is based at the NSW Police Academy in Goulburn, however travel to other campuses of Western Sydney University may be required.
About You
You are a strategic academic leader with a doctoral qualification in a discipline relevant to police education and have a distinguished academic background. You demonstrate leadership in teaching and curriculum design, with a strong focus on innovation and student-centred learning. You bring deep knowledge of the Australian tertiary education sector, including governance, compliance, and policy. Your experience includes leading academic program development and fostering environments that improve student outcomes. You excel in building and sustaining meaningful partnerships with industry, government, and community stakeholders, and have translated these relationships into impactful program outcomes.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level E $266,051 p.a. (comprising Salary of $225,857 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
Pre-Employment Requirements
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Complete and obtain approval via the NSW Police Force Professional Suitability Application Form, and
- Obtain and maintain a Baseline National Security Clearance, as required by the NSW Police Academy.
These are mandatory conditions to be considered for this role, as required by the NSW Police Force.
