Where you'll be working
Westmead Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is seeking experienced neonatal registered nurses (or other critical care registered nurses) for employment. Westmead NICU is co-located with The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and situated within the largest birthing hospital in NSW. As such, Westmead NICU is a fast-paced environment who provides care for critically unwell, premature and growing neonates with a variety of medical conditions. It prioritises evidence-based healthcare for neonates and is a leader in neonatal research.

What you'll be doing
As the Clinical Nurse Educator – Neonatal Intensive Care, you will lead, design and deliver high-quality education and training programs to support our neonatal nursing team in providing best-practice, patient-centred care. You’ll play a pivotal role in mentoring, developing clinical competencies, and promoting a positive learning culture within our NICU.
- Deliver and evaluate clinical education programs in consultation with Nurse Managers, Educators and Clinical Nurse Consultants
- Mentor and support neonatal nurses in achieving and maintaining clinical competency
- Facilitate bedside teaching and learning using advanced professional knowledge and skills
- Collaborate with leadership and clinical teams to identify and address education and operational priorities
- Participate in quality improvement, WHS initiatives and contribute to evidence-based clinical care improvements

Essential Criteria:
- Registration: Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Selection Criteria:
- Post registration experience with demonstrated recent clinical experience in Child and Family Health Nursing and post graduate qualification in Child and Family Health.
- Demonstrated recent experience in clinical teaching, delivery and evaluation of education programs and provision of support & guidance to ensure an appropriately skilled and qualified workforce.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and implement change within the context of best practice clinical care and workplace culture.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and a strong commitment to the ongoing enhancement of clinical practice within a client/patient centred, multi-disciplinary clinical environment.
- Demonstrated effective and high-level communication skills including negotiation and conflict resolutions skills in addition to proven ability to motivate and engage people in the clinical setting.
- Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills.
- Relevant computer skills including use of software programs to develop and deliver education and enter data.
- Current NSW Class C drivers license and willingness to use for work purposes.
