Newcastle Private Hospital is seeking Physiotherapist applicants to join our team as an on a Part-time basis with shifts across a 7 day period, including weekend work.

health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital. We are a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.

We also have a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region. Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.

As Physiotherapist your responsibilities will include:

• Providing comprehensive Physiotherapy services to acute surgical inpatients including orthopaedics, general surgery, cardiac and neurosurgery.
• Delivering excellent clinical services related to assessment, treatment, planning and evidence based practice
• Participating in program development and quality improvement activities within the Allied Health Department
• Working closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients and their support people
• Discharge planning with the multidisciplinary team and referrals to external services.
• Clinical supervision of physiotherapy and allied health assistant students.

Essential Criteria:

• Bachelor in Physiotherapy
• Current AHPRA Registration
• Excellent clinical practice skills to manage a high acuity caseload
• Minimum 1 years' experience in an acute hospital environment
• Highly developed communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent organisation and time management skills
• Commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork

Desirable Criteria

• Prior experience in ICU & Surgical settings would be advantageous
• Experience working in an acute hospital setting preferred
