The Role:
As an HSEQAdvisor to join their team based in Cape Lambert, you will play a crucial role in supporting our clients demolition operations by ensuring the health, safety, environmental, and quality standards are met and exceeded. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust HSEQ
management systems on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and Implementing HSEQ Management Systems:
- This includes creating and updating policies, procedures, and work instructions related to health, safety, environment, and quality, ensuring they are aligned with relevant legislation and standards.
- Conducting Risk Assessments and Audits: Identifying potential hazards and
risks associated with demolition work and implementing control measures. - Conducting regular audits to ensure compliance with HSEQ policies and
procedures. - Investigating Incidents and Implementing Corrective Actions: Leading
- investigations into accidents, near misses, and other incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Ensuring Compliance with Regulations and Standards: Staying up-to-date with relevant HSEQ legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards, and ensuring the company and its employees comply with these requirements.
- Providing Training and Support: Developing and delivering HSEQ training programs to educate employees on safety procedures, hazard awareness, and emergency response.
- Promoting a Positive Safety Culture: Fostering a culture of safety and
continuous improvement within the organization, encouraging proactive reporting of hazards and near misses. - Collaborating with Stakeholders: Working with project managers, supervisors, and other stakeholders to integrate HSEQ considerations into all aspects of demolition projects.
- Managing Environmental Impacts: Minimizing the environmental impact of demolition activities, including waste management, dust control, and noise reduction.
- Quality Control: Ensuring that demolition work is carried out to the required quality standards, including material handling, structural integrity, and final site conditions.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong knowledge of HSEQ principles and practices: A thorough
understanding of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and industry
standards. - Experience in developing and implementing HSEQ management systems:
- Proven ability to create, implement, and maintain effective HSEQ systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to effectively
communicate HSEQ requirements to all levels of the organization. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and develop appropriate control measures.
- Experience in conducting audits and investigations: Proven ability to conduct thorough audits and investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Relevant qualifications: May include a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, or relevant certifications.
- Experience in the demolition industry is highly desirable: Knowledge of
demolition processes, hazards, and best practices. - Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and other
relevant software
