POSITION VACANT
Perth Waldorf School invites applications for
Grade 2 Teacher (Full time)
Commencing Term 3, 2025 (21st July, negotiable)
This is a wonderful opportunity to leave an assessment-driven teaching role and embrace a joyful teaching journey with the same class until Grade 6. You’ll form a lasting and meaningful connection with the children and their families.
The students are highly motivated and looking for someone who can teach creatively in a structured way using rhythm and repetition with consistency.
The Steiner curriculum is rich in content and seamlessly integrates academic learning with arts and practical skills. You are supported by weekly classes from a specialist handcraft teacher, music teacher, LOTE teacher and Eurythmy teacher. There are also dedicated Education assistants who will support you and the students.
The ideal candidate will bring warmth, creativity and a strong sense of purpose. They will have initiative, a genuine love of children and a healthy understanding of child development.
Training in Steiner education and mentoring support will be provided.
What we need from you is a commitment to work with the same class for a number of years and a willingness to embrace the human-centred Steiner approach to teaching.
Teachers who join our school often breathe a sigh of relief at finding the opportunity to teach in a way that matches their idea of best practice. They comment that they have rekindled the passion for education they once had. Both new graduates and very experienced teachers appear to thrive if they come with the right desire.
The school leadership, your colleagues and parents are very supportive of your striving.
Administrative tasks are minimised in favour of focusing on your teaching.
In the Primary years, lessons are free of screens or devices, in order to prioritise true hands-on learning and the fostering of the children’s imaginations.
A Class Teacher job description is available on the school website: Work with us - Perth Waldorf School.
Applicants must be teachers who are registered (or eligible for registration) with the Teachers Registration Board of WA and hold a Working with Children Check. They must have Australian residency or possess a valid visa with work entitlements in Australia.
“At Perth Waldorf School and Parkerville Steiner College we are committed to promoting the safety, health and wellbeing of children and young people and expect all school staff, parents, students, volunteers and visitors to the school to share that commitment.”
