We are currently seeking a skilled Fibre Composite Technician to join our team in a full-time, permanent role. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company with a supportive team culture, excellent working conditions, and a reputation for quality craftsmanship.
About the Role
As a Fibre Composite Technician (classified under ANZSCO 399999 – Technicians and Trades Workers nec), you will be responsible for manufacturing composite components using hand lay-up and vacuum infusion techniques. You will work closely with engineering drawings and production teams to deliver high-quality structural and cosmetic parts.
This position aligns with ANZSCO classification 399999 – Technicians and Trades Workers not elsewhere classified, encompassing specialist trade roles in emerging and niche technical areas. Fibre Composite Technicians play a vital role in Australia’s advanced manufacturing sector by producing high-strength, precision-engineered components used across critical infrastructure, energy, mining, and transport industries. This skilled role requires hands-on expertise, technical knowledge, and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
This role shall include, but not be limited to, the following duties:
• Work to Redmond Gary’s Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Work to Redmond Gary’s quality policies and procedures.
• Perform manual lifting up to 20kg.
• Operate equipment such as saws, drills, milling machines, sander, bobbin sander, sanding booth, painting booth, oven, etc., after induction or training.
• Operate lifting equipment including overhead crane, pillar crane, KBK crane, electric hoist, block and tackle, chains, hooks and slings up to 3,500kg.
• Read drawings.
• Mark out work pieces in accordance with drawings.
• Use measuring equipment such as verniers, rulers, squares, straight edges, etc.
• Operate electrical and pneumatic power tools such as grinders, drills, sanders, fibre cutters, spray gun, etc., after induction or training.
• Use and maintain respirators and other PPE.
• Manufacturing structural components using vacuum infusion techniques
• Manufacturing composite parts using hand laminating techniques
• Being responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and storage of mould tools
• Cutting materials such as fibreglass and vacuum bagging materials as required
• Manufacturing of moulds, jigs and fixtures as required in the development of processes and new and existing products
• Handle and store chemicals in a safe and proper manner.
• Set up workpieces on tables, on vices, in chucks and in combination with jigs and other fixtures.
• Operate a motor vehicle or forklift if licenced.
• Ensure adherence to RG 5S principles

Key Responsibilities
• Manufacture structural composite components via vacuum infusion
• Produce hand-laminated fibreglass parts
• Mark, cut, shape, and assemble composite materials to engineering specifications
• Prepare, maintain, and store moulds and tooling
• Repair damaged composite parts using approved methods
• Spray gelcoat, sand, and finish composite surfaces
• Contribute to the development of moulds, jigs, and fixtures for new product lines
• Work as part of a production team to meet daily output goals
• Adhere to company safety, quality, and production standards
Position Requirements
• Minimum 3 years of experience in composite manufacturing
• Experience with vacuum infusion equipment, epoxy resin, and gelcoats (desirable)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Strong focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery
• Understanding of OH&S and QA policies
• Forklift licence (advantageous)
