Sydney-based associate editor role, with substantial WFH/flexibility
Industrial relations news service Workplace Express is seeking a journalist with substantial experience to join the leadership of our small editorial team in Sydney.
The permanent full-time job involves supervising other journalists and subbing their work, alongside sourcing and reporting news for our real-time publication,
After an initial induction and settling-in period, the role has scope to be performed to a substantial degree from home.
The successful candidate will require strong journalism and reporting skills, an ability to produce clean, accurate copy to deadlines and at least a decade of experience.
Knowledge of industrial relations, economics, politics and parliamentary and legal systems would be a distinct advantage, as would a background in court reporting.
The position provides the opportunity to report on a key area of economic and social importance and to work as part of a focused team.
Starting pay range $120K to $145K.

Essential
Extensive experience in journalism and reporting
Willingness to start early in the morning on some days (remotely)
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Ability to sub-edit to a high standard
Ability to supervise others
Ability to work with limited supervision
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to write crisp, clean copy requiring minimal editing
Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
Ability to make and maintain contacts
Ability to understand legal documents
Interest in industrial relations reporting
Understanding of Australian political and legal systems
Desirable
Knowledge of industrial relations, economics, politics and the law
Experience in court reporting
Experience in electronic publishing and content management systems
