The position resources, develops and support programs, activities and networks targeting families, young children and their carer’s including those from Culturally and Linguistically Different Background (CALD) that reside in South West Sydney. This position directly contributes to the development and delivery of programs and activities that address service accessibility barriers of individual children, families and the whole community. This position addresses opportunities for communities to be at the centre of the service system by providing evidence based informed practice, targeting resources for those with the greatest needs and facilitating input in decision-making on the design and delivery of local services. This position adopts a client outcomes focus guided by the TEI Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Framework. The role delivers programs that strengthen families through early intervention strategies and set the foundation for life-long health and learning outcomes. The programs are designed to promote the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children young people and their families and prevent the development or emergence of problems and issues. The program objectives are to assist and promote the necessary conditions for a child or young person’s healthy development.

The role is expected to maintain the balance of multiple tasks while providing a high quality service. It requires a high level of interpersonal and organizational skills, be pro-active and punctual. It requires an accurate typing ability, familiarity with Microsoft software and experience and/or willing to learn the Community Data Solution database.

Your responsibilities:

Responsible for the ongoing evaluation of the project in conjunction with Community Connections staff and the Youth Service.

In consultation with Community Connections staff, promote the service to the communities of South West Sydney via the local and ethnic press, radio and appropriate community networks.

Perform administration tasks that relate to the program and the assigned work plan under the TEI program strategy.

Consult with members of the target group and appropriate service providers in order to identify the needs of the target group.

Gather information on appropriate existing services and resources, and develop effective means of disseminating this information to members of the target group taking into account language, culture and literacy factors.

Encourage and facilitate participation from members of the target group in cross-cultural and inter-generational activities and programs.

Provide an outreach service to groups in the outlying areas of the service provision.

Evaluate the wide variety of service provision, provide a level of flexibility and innovation to ensure services meet individual children, families and communities including CALD and Aboriginal communities.

Provide information, education, social and recreational activities which take into account the age and multicultural make-up of the target group

Liaise with and develop networks with internal and external stakeholders among relevant organisations to pool resources for the provision of activities and services for the target group.

Identify skills and resources among the target group population and encourage the development of self-help initiatives as well as participation in wider evidence based community activities where this is desirable and appropriate.

Research, produce and distribute publications as per funding body requirements

In consultation with the Community Connections Manager, monitor the financial expenditure of the project, and prepare budgets and submission budgets.

Responsible for the roll out of the marketing plan designed for the TEI Program.

Develop, liaise and maintain professional relationships with relevant government and non-government services.

Liaise, resource and provide practical support to existing local, regional and state networks which are pertinent to addressing the target group’s needs.

To participate in relevant services networks and forums to highlight the issues faced by the target community.

  • Responsible for the overall day to day administration and management of the project.

Selection Criteria:

2 years or more experience in providing services and groups in the community.

Relevant industry experience working in Not For Profit sector.

Proven experience working with youth, young families and vulnerable people in the community.

Strong understanding and knowledge of the needs of children and families including CALD communities and cultural awareness knowledge.

Proven capacity to consult, assess plan, implement and evaluate programs

Submission and report writing skills

Ability to analyse social policy and impact on service delivery for children and families

Highly developed interpersonal skills

Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with emphasis on written documentation and verbal communication

Communications must be culturally appropriate and tailored according to deliverables needs

Skills in Outlook, Word, Excel and Publisher/Canva or similar publishing tools .

Desirable knowledge of DEX and CDS data bases.

The ability to priorities work and make decisions regarding the day to day issues as directed

Ability to maintain high levels of privacy and confidentiality in regards to clients, staff and business matters

Successfully Undertake a National Police Check and a Working with Children Check

Full NSW Driver’s License

  • Certificate 4 or Diploma in Community Services or other relevant qualification/experience desirable.
