Your Role

As a Community Development Coordinator, you will play a key role in delivering grassroots initiatives that create meaningful social impact. This casual role offers variety, flexibility, and purpose as you connect with people who face disadvantage and social exclusion.

Your Responsibility

Coordinate, deliver, and facilitate community outreach programs and activities that foster social inclusion and build individual and community capacity.

Work closely with internal teams—including homelessness, housing, and health services—to create safe, inclusive, and welcoming environments.

Strengthen local partnerships and collaborate with stakeholders to extend support networks and increase engagement.

Assess individual needs during outreach and provide appropriate information, resources, and referrals.

Implement strategies that promote participation and inclusivity among People We Assist (PWA).

Set up, pack down, and manage logistics for pop-up community outreach activities.

Maintain clear records, feedback mechanisms, and data to support program evaluation and continuous improvement.

Uphold workplace health and safety practices to ensure safe environments for all participants, members, volunteers, and staff.

Profile description:

You Will Need

Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in community development, social work, or community services.

Practical experience delivering programs, events, or educational activities in community settings.

Confidence working with individuals experiencing homelessness, trauma, mental health challenges, substance use, or long-term unemployment.

A strengths-based and trauma-informed approach, with sound de-escalation skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.

Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with capacity to manage competing priorities.

Computer literacy and the ability to manage reporting and digital tools effectively.

Physical ability to assist with outreach activity setup (e.g. tables, chairs, supplies).

Current NSW Driver Licence and valid Working with Children Check.
