About the role

Meadan Homes Brisbane and Sunshine Coast is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our dynamic and growing team in Newstead, QLD. We design and build custom homes in the mid to high end market. As a fulltime Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the success of our residential design and construction projects, ensuring accurate cost estimates and budgeting and implementing effective project management processes across our jobs. What you'll be doing

Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects, including materials, labour, and subcontractor costs

Analyse project plans, specifications, and drawings to identify all required components and quantities

Collaborate with customers through design process to ensure adherence with budget expectations

Prepare sales quotations

Prepare takeoffs, BOQs for production

Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best possible pricing

Maintain a comprehensive database of historical pricing and cost information

Manage construction software to ensure efficient implementation and seamless transition from estimating to pre-construction to production and handover

Prepare and issue POs

Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to monitor and control project schedule and costs including variations

Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements

Stay informed about industry trends, nwe products, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to accurately forecast project costs.

Longer term responsibilities may involve management of other estimators

What we're looking for

Proven experience as an Estimator in the residential construction industry

An all rounder - business acumen, sales and negotiation and project management are valuable complementary skillsets

Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and cost drivers

Proficient in using estimating software and spreadsheet applications

Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with all stakeholders including customers

Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is beneficial

Previous experience in other aspects of construction or business is not essential but may be considered an asset (building design, ex-builders, sales, engineering etc)
