About the role
Directly reporting to the Perioperative Services Manager (PSM), the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) - Perioperative is responsible for leading a team across 8 Operating Theatres, Treatment Room and Stage 1 Recovery.
Supported by a cohesive and dedicated team of ANUMS, Registered Nurses, Theatre Technicians and Administrative staff, a significant part of the NUM role is to effectively lead their team, ensuring staff are equipped to perform their roles to the highest standards within a safe and collaborative environment.
The NUM will maintain and implement quality systems in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and will have a commitment to continuous improvement, risk minimisation and successful delivery of outcomes.
The NUM is committed to quality improvement in care and value and ensure a focus on education and professional development in the department and also help shape organisational strategy, continue to strengthen VMO relationships and improve procedural service provision to achieve departmental and hospital strategic objectives.
The NUM will ensure there is an effective workforce available to support the hospital's strategy, along with identifying and supervising issues of clinical risk ensuring high quality, safe, patient centred care. The NUM provides guidance and development of the staff within the Unit and holds responsibility to develop and manage the unit within the allocated budgets and organisational improvement plan objectives.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
Current registration with AHPRA with a Bachelor of Nursing
Post graduate qualification or relevant experience in Perioperative Nursing
Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
Demonstrated success in delivering a patient centred service in a complex hospital environment
Experience or exposure to managing a budget including labour costs, procurement of equipment, etc.
