With projects ranging from Heritage Restorations, Multi unit developments, and Commercial Projects, we are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Project Engineer to join our team constructing an exciting design and construct project Multi Residential Class 2 in Newcastle.

The Role
The purpose of the PE role is to support the Project Manager, Site Manager and the project delivery team in ensuring the project is planned and delivered effectively and efficiently in a compliant manner.
Specifics of the role includes;
Planning, scheduling and co-ordination of the works in line with the project scope and programme.
Overall technical co-ordination and management of the construction works, through co-ordination of design, programme and quality matters.
Driving a culture of QA performance and compliance with employees, workers and trade subcontractors on QA matters and risks
Managing the identification and actioning of any identified defects and aspects of non-conforming works.
Facilitating the closure of CAR’s \ NCR’s identified during investigations and audits;
Liaising with authorities, consultants and relevant stakeholders in all matters concerning design and QA.
Assisting the project team in driving a culture of HSE high performance and contributing to HSE planning, implementation and compliance on site.
Quality
Assist in achieving a superior level of compliance with MARS Project Management Plan, Head Contract scope obligations, Australian Standards and National Construction Code.
Identify trades and components deemed high risk e.g. waterproofing, fire protection etc and co-ordinate with those trade subcontractors\suppliers\designers to ensure all risks are identified with an agreed methodology to best mitigate or remove the risk of non-compliance.
Providing the link between the design team and site management\supervision to ensure an adequate level of detail and documentation is available when required and to meet programme.
Identify, co-ordinate and manage all required samples and submissions required to ensure compliance and to meet programme.
Establishing, communicating and implementing a site-specific system of ITP’s to control quality outcomes for all trade subcontractors.
Ensure all witness inspections and associated reports\documentation are planned, co-ordinated and closed out to meet the requirements of the programme and QA outcomes.
Ensure all testing, commissioning and associated deliverables are planned, co-ordinated and closed out to meet the requirements of the programme and QA outcomes.
Proactively driving a culture of QA performance with all trade subcontractors, suppliers and designers.
Planning and Co-ordination
Identify, co-ordinate and manage workshop drawings workflow to ensure compliance and to meet programme.
Identify, co-ordinate and manage all long lead time items to meet programme.
Produce productivity tracking schedules to identify any slippage from construction programme and proposed \ implement corrective actions.
Co-ordinate and manage all design related queries and RFI’s during the construction phase of the project.
Assist the Project Manager in producing and distributing medium and long-range programmes
Assist the Project Manager in regularly statusing these programmes, identifying any slippages or opportunities to improve productivity.
Prepare and communicate detailed methodologies as required.
Assist in all logistics planning and implementation on site.
Identify alternative construction methods and innovations for investigation.
HSE
Assist the project team in all planning and methodologies needed for high-risk construction work activities and generally contributing to the HSE culture on site including inspections and identification of hazards and non-compliances.
Identify, co-ordinate and manage workshop drawings workflow to ensure compliance and to meet programme.
Key Skills & Experience
Understanding of Australian Standards and the NCC;
Demonstrated ability to work strategically with the project team in planning and working through any QA risks, challenges and non-compliances to improve performance and remove or mitigate risks;
Strong time management, planning and organisational skills;
Highly developed communication skills and ability to influence successful outcomes;
Ability to form effective relationships with key stakeholders;
Developed commercial acumen;
Able to provide timely, relevant, practical and succinct QA and engineering advice to project team;
Able to communicate QA and engineering matters to a broad range of stakeholders including NSW Building Commission, external consultants, authorities and the client.
Qualifications/ Experience:
Minimum five years’ experience within the construction industry
Tertiary qualification in Building/Construction or Engineering fields
Experience using programming software such as MS Project, Astra or similar
Experiencing working within a document control system
