Job Description
Location: Port Lincoln, South Australia.
Status: Multiple Casual and Part Time roles available. Contract to 30 December 2025, with possibility of extension.
Annual Salary: $34.58 to $37.73 per hour plus applicable loading and penalty rates
About the Position
The Supported Residential Care Service provides 24/7 accommodation and quality care for children and young people under the guardianship of the Chief Executive of the Department for Child Protection.
As a Residential Care Worker, you will ensure that children and young people in care are provided with a consistent, safe, secure, and supportive living, learning, and social environment.
There are multiple casual and part time positions based in Port Lincoln that involve day, night and weekend work.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
A minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention or Certificate IV in Community Services Work or be willing to obtain this qualification within 12 months of starting the role. Other qualifications as listed in Appendix 1 of the Department for Child Protection Minimum Qualification Requirements will also be accepted.
Experience in working with families and/or children
Knowledge and understanding of Child Safe Environments, Mandated Reporting and basic child development principles, childcare principles and family dynamics
Effective negotiation and communication skills in managing challenging and confronting situations and behaviours
The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, under pressure organising workload accordingly.
Experience using Information Technology and Microsoft Office programs (specifically Word, Excel and Outlook)
A current South Australian Driver’s License (minimum Provisional Licence)
Successful candidates must be willing to:
Undergo a Psychological Suitability Assessment *
Hold (or willingness to obtain) a current DHS Working With Children Check *
Hold (or a willingness to obtain) a National Criminal History Record Check (Police Check) *
Complete a qualification ‘Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention’ or other suitable qualification within 12 months of appointment if they do not already hold a suitable qualification
Work shifts including days, nights, weekends and public holidays
