Role Overview

One Culture Support Services is seeking a casual Residential Support Worker to join our team in Adelaide, SA. This is a casual role, providing you with the flexibility to choose your hours and work-life balance.

As Residential Support Worker you can make a real difference in the lives of children and young people who are living in out-of-home care, helping us to create a nurturing and safe environment.

The number of hours per week available is dependent on your availability. There is a range of shifts available and include long hours shifts, active overnight, and weekdays / weekend shifts. Our rosters are done in advance, which grants you some stability working in a casual environment. We also have emergency and ad hoc shifts available each week.

What you'll be doing

Providing 2:1 care and support to children and young people: Including following and implementing treatment plan, positioning plan, oral eating/drinking plan and more.

Support Daily Routines: Assist with everyday activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and self-care to foster autonomy and confidence.

Oversee Health and Wellbeing: Administer prescribed medications and maintain detailed, accurate health and incident records.

Monitoring participant's conditions and reporting any changes to the appropriate healthcare team members

Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best possible outcomes for our young participants

Document progress and report any concerns or updates. Adhere to organisational policies and industry standards

Provide a Safe and Caring Environment: Create a stable, supportive environment where vulnerable young people feel protected, respected, and valued.

Coordinate Transport Needs: Accompany and transport young people to school, medical appointments, and community events, ensuring consistent engagement and access to essential services.

Encourage Development: Promote social interaction and build life skills through community participation and structured activities.

Practice Trauma-Informed Support: Respond to complex behaviours with empathy and understanding, grounded in trauma-informed care principles.

What we're looking for

Holds a certificate IV in Youth Work, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Individual Support, Community Services, or equivalent

Holds an Australian Drivers Licence (SA), P2 or higher

National Police check & Working With Children Check

Current suitable Psychological Assessment, or willing to obtain

First aid Certificate & CPR

Ability to follow care plans

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathise and build trust with participants and their families

Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care

Has a minimum of 6 months experience in Residential Youth Services

Can provide availability to work across AM/PM/Active night shifts

Demonstrated experience in supporting extreme challenging behaviours

Has or is willing to obtain the following certifications:

Child Safe Environments (Through Their Eyes) Certificate

Child Car Restraints Certificate

Safe Infant Training Certificate

Current suitable Psychological Assessment, or willing to obtain

CPI Safety Intervention Training
