Your part in St Stephen’s Hospital team
This role will support the Clinical Nurse Educator / Education Manager to provide education in the Perioperative Department portfolio to support clinicians to provide evidence based and contemporary patient focused services.
The role will report to the Education Manager and will be a part of the wider St Stephen Hospital education team. You will support patient facing skill development, training and assessment and quality improvement aligning to evidence-based practice. In collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Educator and Unit Manager, you will carry out learning needs analysis in identification of skills deficits, implement education intervention action plans aligning to clinical incidents and quality improvement, conduct simulation events and workstations in clinical skill development and support graduates, clinicians and clinical support staff.
What makes a difference for us?
Bachelor of nursing degree or equivalent.
Registration as a Registered Nurse under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 with current annual practicing certificate.
Completion of, or willingness to undertake
- Preceptor program.
- Certificate IV (workplace training and assessment) TAE 40122
- Post graduate education or clinical specialty qualification.
Minimum of 3 years recent Clinical experience.

Anaesthetic and/or Scrub Scout experience
Gradate Diploma Clinical Education or working towards
Experience in resource and educational development
Demonstrated high level knowledge and skills applicable to perioperative clinical specialities
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within a team, to manage workloads, meet deadlines, prioritise and multi-task.
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills at an advanced level, including the ability to consult, negotiate and maintain relationships with all levels of health professionals and stakeholders.
Demonstrated competency in using electronic information systems (eg Surginet)
Ability to work collaboratively within the hospital education community
